Sister Wives: Mykelti Reveals She Ate Her Placenta Following the Birth of All 3 Kids: ‘I Ate a Chunk of It Raw’
Mykelti Brown Padron is sharing her recommendation for all new mothers.
On the Sunday, Oct. 13 episode of Sister Wives, Mykelti shares that she ate her placenta after welcoming twin sons Archer Banks and Ace McCord with her husband Antonio “Tony” Padron in Nov. 2022. While chatting with Robyn Brown about her postpartum experience, the 28-year-old says, “I’m doing great. I’m eating my placenta, so it’s lovely.”
In a confessional, the mom of three tells the cameras, “I highly recommend every woman just eat your placenta. The placenta is all of the nutrients — It’s all of the really good stuff that helps feed the baby when you’re pregnant, and the placenta is actually is encapsulated. It’s very good for you.”
“It was incredible,” she continues, adding that she also ate her placenta after welcoming her daughter Avalon in April 2021. “I think it really helped me through my postpartum with Avalon. It really helped through my recovery, so I was like, ‘I’m going to do it again with my boys,’ ” she recalls thinking. “And so far it’s helped a lot.”
Back in the scene, Kody Brown asks Mykelti if she ate her placenta after Avalon as well. She says yes and clarifies, “So I actually ate my placenta raw, though, after Avalon. I straight up took a bite out of it.”
Mykelti adds, “It doesn’t have a taste. It’s not like carne asada.” Tony then chimes in, joking, “But it looks like carne asada!”
In her confessional, Mykelti explains that after Avalon, “I ate a chunk of it raw and then they turned another chunk of it into a smoothie. I actually have a picture on my phone of my placenta and you can see the bite mark that I took out of it.”
The producers then asked the other moms about their placenta opinions in separate confessionals. While Meri Brown says she would, “in no way shape or form,” eat a placenta, Christine Brown admits, “I wish so badly I would have known about eating your placenta.” She adds, “I would have done it in a heartbeat.”
Robyn then reveals in her confessional, “I’m going to shock you all. I was the first one to do it.”
“It was something my midwife suggested to me and I just thought I’d try it,” she continues, explaining that it dramatically helped her with postpartum depression.
Sister Wives airs Sundays at 11 p.m. ET on TLC.
