Robyn Brown Was Almost Sent To Jail Before She Moved Her Entire Life To Arizona!
Robyn Brown admits she feared being thrown in jail before moving to Arizona. The Sister Wives star basically wasn’t able to go to community church because of judgement around her relationship.
As polygamy is a felony in Utah, Robyn Brown faced jail time while living there with her legal husband, Kody Brown. The Sister Wives family now lives in Flagstaff, Arizona, but they moved for a reason.
Robyn Brown faced jail time in Utah
Robyn Brown admits she once faced jail time for being polygamous. In 2020, Utah reduced the penalty for polygamy from a felony to an infraction, which is a low-level offense that’s similar to a traffic violation.
However, in 2022, the 2020 law was repealed in 2022, and polygamy is once again a felony in Utah. The Brown family originally lived in a massive house in Lehi, Utah, back in 2010.
Their house was three apartments that connected to each other, but Robyn and her co-stars faced potential jail time for their polygamous relationship, previously involving Christine, Meri and Janelle.
She’d face a lot of judgement
Robyn explained how the Browns moved because they were “trying to be a family without being torn apart or thrown in jail.” She also said how they didn’t have a community church to go to.
She explained, “The state of Utah was threatening prosecution because of our beliefs, because we were a plural family.” Robyn also noted the family’s uprooting to Flagstaff, Arizona, was due to the issues.
“Usually when I tell people about my religious background, they look at me like I’m wrong,” she said, “or I’m a sinner because I was a part of a plural family. Women get really defensive and angry.”
Robyn continued to talk about practicing Christianity while being polygamous and said, “Men are more like, ‘Huh, interesting.’ But then they also shutter and go, ‘Aw I couldn’t have more than one.’
They now live in Flagstaff, Arizona
Robyn and Kody now live in a house in Flagstaff, Arizona, after putting their old one up for sale. The price has doubled in five years, but in their former home in Utah, each wife lived with their children.
They bought their new place for $2.1 million, again in Flagstaff, in October. It has six bedrooms and seven bathrooms, which is a lot bigger than the old property we usually saw on Sister Wives.
Most of Kody’s former wives, such as Christine Brown, have sold their homes in Flagstaff. She sold it for $725K, while Meri Brown has put hers up for rent and headed back to Utah.
