Ethan Plath Reveals He Won’t Be Quiet Anymore
Season 5 of Welcome to Plathville has been nothing short of heartbreaking as fans see Plath family dynamics changing left and right. Recently, Ethan Plath and his wife Olivia Plath announced that they had separated and were divorcing. Now, Ethan is making it clear that he won’t stay silent anymore.
Marriage to Olivia Plath
Ethan and Olivia initially met as young teens. In the culture that they were raised in, it was not uncommon to choose your future spouse at a young age. Olivia having developed a close relationship with the Plath matriarch, Kim Plath, was a natural choice for Ethan. Prior to their marriage in 2018, Olivia felt close to the family and confessed that she looked to Kim as a second mother. Shortly after the pair were married, things quickly changed.
Throughout each season of the family’s show, Ethan and Olivia are seen struggling through their differences. They attended couple’s therapy as well as individual. Unfortunately, it was clear that their differences grew to be too much for them. Ethan was firm and content in his beliefs, whereas Olivia continued to evolve outside of her former belief system. Ultimately, the contrast proved to be irreconcilable and the couple went their separate ways.
Micah Plath’s Relationship With Olivia
During Micah’s “rebellious” phase toward his parents Barry and Kim Plath, Olivia was a guiding light of sorts. She was there for Micah and encouraged him to go for his dreams. On one occasion, Micah explicitly stated that he considered Olivia to be one of his sisters. The two were very close, and Olivia continually offered him advice as he learned to navigate a world outside of the one he was used to.
This all came to a screeching halt when Season 4 of Welcome to Plathville aired and Micah heard what Olivia had to say. In one of her last interview segments of the season, Olivia accused Kim of stealing money from Ethan. According to the majority of the Plaths, aside from Ethan and Olivia, the story that Olivia told was not true. Some of the older Plath children issued a statement of support for their mother, and Olivia in turn took offense to that.
Further splitting the pair, Moriah Plath made the accusation that Olivia stole some of her music and was essentially holding it hostage in retaliation for calling her out. Ethan continues to stand by his previous statements that Olivia did not steal her music and was not “punishing” them.
Micah Not Interested In Being Friends
In the most recent episode, Micah goes on a road trip to help his brother, Ethan, move his cars from Georgia to Minnesota. In an effort to mend things, Micah lets Olivia know that he is fine hanging out with her, but doesn’t wish to have a deep discussion just yet. Olivia responds that she refuses unless he agrees to meet one-on-one to hash everything out.
Micah explains that “[he] kind of feels like she’s slightly selfish and focuses on her feelings and how she thinks more than anyone else. I personally am not going to be friends with that.” He does make it clear that he is fine being cordial. However, Olivia feels like this is “being fake”, and refuses to ignore the issues.
Ethan Learns to Speak Up
In earlier seasons, viewers note that Ethan was fairly reserved and did his best to avoid any conflict, particularly with Olivia. Now, Micah is commending Ethan for his efforts to stand his ground.
Micah says, “I’ve noticed that you’ve like started to stand up.”
Ethan explains, “I really do speak my mind more than I used to. I don’t really hold back as far as what I think and what I believe because going along, getting along, and keeping the peace and all that hasn’t really seemed to get me anywhere. I think I can see myself clearly, if I continue that path, keeping my mouth shut about values I don’t agree with. That’s a recipe for a miserable life and I don’t want that.”
