Sister Wives’ Janelle Brown Felt She Couldn’t ‘Fully Move on’ from Ex Kody Until Coyote Pass Was Sold

Janelle split from Kody in 2022, though they have not officially divorced from their spiritual marriage

Janelle Brown is ready to put her ex Kody Brown behind her for good.

On the Sunday, April 20 episode of Sister Wives, Janelle is preparing for her official move to North Carolina to live closer to her and Kody’s daughter Madison Brush and her kids.

Though she’d been spending time in both Flagstaff, Ariz., and North Carolina, the TLC star was ready to be done with her time out West.

“At this point I have [my kids] Savanah and Gabriel still living in town and the property in Coyote Pass and that’s the only thing that ties me to Flagstaff anymore,” Janelle explained during the episode.

The Brown family’s Coyote Pass property, which was initially intended to be a large compound where all of Kody’s wives lived in separate homes, has been a large point of contention for the divided family in recent years.

Though they began the purchase process after moving to Arizona in 2018, Kody’s plural marriages to Janelle, Christine Brown and Meri Brown have all dissolved in the years since. His only remaining marriage is to Robyn Brown, and his exes have struggled to get a clear answer on Kody’s plans for the property and their own financial investments.

On Monday, April 21, PEOPLE confirmed the property had officially sold for $1.5 million, according to Coconino County property records.

“I am really just ready to be resolved and have this property sold,” Janelle said during the episode. “I don’t want to have to think about Kody anymore. I don’t want to have to talk to him, interact with him, nothing.”

However, there’s one thing still holding Janelle back from a clean break from Kody.

“As long as that property remains a source of contention, I can’t fully move on,” she explained.

Janelle separated from Kody in 2022 and though she has not gone through the official divorce process to end her spiritual marriage, she no longer considers herself romantically tied to the former polygamist.

The former couple share children Logan Brown, Hunter Brown, Madison, Gabriel Brown, Savanah Brown and the late Garrison Brown.

During the episode, Janelle also explored the new property she purchased along with Madison in North Carolina, where they plan to build their flower farm.

“It’s so interesting to be on this piece of land and know that this is it for me,” she shared during her confessional interview. “This is where I’m going to be. I’m going to live here. This is going to be my last place I live. This is my home place. It’s going to be so much work, but it’s going to be so worth it.”

Sister Wives airs Sundays at 10 p.m. ET on TLC.
