How Sister Wives’ Robyn Brown Lost a Friendship With Mykelti Brown
Robyn Brown is working the last bit of patience out of the Brown family. The fourth wife of Kody Brown has always been a thorn in the side of the polygamous family. After secluding her and Kody from the rest of the Sister Wives stars, Robyn seemed to be on an island all by herself. But Mykelti Brown, Christine Brown’s daughter, threw a life raft at Robyn in her darkest time. For years, Mykelti was the middleman between Robyn and the rest of the family. But something recently went terribly wrong, and now Mykelti is speaking out.
Mykelti Brown confirms rift with Robyn Brown
After the tragic loss of Garrison Brown back in March, the polygamous family has been struggling more than ever. While everyone rallied around Janelle Brown, Kody and Robyn were once again left behind to fend for themselves. But it turns out the Browns haven’t just written the couple off for fun, as Mykelti confirmed another rift had formed. The daughter of Christine and Kody has always been extremely active on Patreon and updated followers just before the newest season aired.
One curious Sister Wives fan asked about the family dynamic since the funeral, with Mykelti confirming she and Robyn were no longer “close.” Mykelti responded, “We try very hard to say what we can while respecting our families and relationships. We don’t lie. To give you some insights. It’s true we have always been super supportive of Robyn. Of lately it may seem as that has changed.” The mother of three continued noting “things that happened during the recent funeral that are reason for that.” As photos surfaced of the funeral, fans could see Robyn sitting in the front row with Kody, but they still couldn’t figure out what went wrong.
Mykelti Brown was the only older brown child to support Robyn
Since the Brown family started falling apart, Robyn has been the one to blame. Many see her as the wicked stepmother who came in and shook up the happy-go-lucky family by manipulating Kody. It’s been a hard road, with only one child being the bridge between the two sides. For years, Mykelti has welcomed Robyn and her baggage with open arms. But with this new revelation, it looks like Robyn has finally bitten the hand that fed her. Viewers were always amazed at just how kind Mykelti was even when her mother decided to leave and not continue a relationship.
The new season premiered, and the first episode showed Mykelti inviting Kody and Robyn to her twin’s baby sprinkle. Even though Christine made it clear she wasn’t inviting Meri Brown, the mother-to-be put her foot down and asked Robyn to be extended the invite. Mykelti even noted that Robyn would also be part of the delivery team. As fans are aware, Robyn was in the Zoom room for the birth of her daughter, Avalon, and has been a regular visitor to Utah with Kody by her side.
Robyn Brown and Mykelti Brown used to be thick as thieves
Many Sister Wives viewers often forget that Robyn was the first parent to support Mykelti’s marriage to Tony Padron. Kody and the rest of the clan felt that Mykelti, who was only 19, was too young to get married. Christine even noted, “I don’t even know Tony” at the time of their engagement. But Robyn took a different path and decided to support her step-daughter’s choice. Last season, Mykelti stopped by for the holidays amid a strained family dynamic, with Robyn saying she appreciated them for still coming. All Mykelti replied was You’re still mom, Robyn. And grandma.”
Mykelti has spent her adult life defending Kody and Robyn to the rest of the family, but it feels like she has thrown the towel in. Robyn somehow alienated the only remaining friend she had within the family. But what could have been so bad that it would cause Mykelti to turn her back? My guess is Robyn made a scene at the funeral. She either tried to make the moment about her (when it clearly wasn’t) or defended Kody at the wrong time. Robyn’s constant complaining about the lack of a plural family finally wore out its welcome.
