90 Day Fiancé: Devin’s Family Blanches When Nick Calls His Girlfriend a ‘Lazy Piggy’ (Exclusive)
As Devin's father worries over how Nick's comments could hurt her feelings, she admits she's been fighting the nickname to no avail
Devin’s family is questioning her relationship with Nick after his jarring comments about her weight.
In PEOPLE’s exclusive sneak peek of Sunday’s episode of 90 Day Fiancé, Devin’s family doesn’t take kindly to Nick’s criticisms of their daughter, and worry for her mental wellbeing after learning his favorite nickname for her.
As the group gathers around to enjoy a meal of “southern fish and chips,” one of Devin’s family members asks Nick to share how Americans are perceived by South Koreans.
“Greasy foods and being fat,” Nick laughs.
When he notices the shocked looks on their faces, the Korean native attempts to retract his assessment. “I don’t think that way,” he clarifies. “People in Korea think that way.”
“No offense,” he adds.
Devin explains the price disparity between “unhealthy” and “healthy” foods in America, which prompts her father to note that some people are “lazy” and it’s “easier to drive-thru and get something than to cook.”
Putting his attention back to Devin, Nick states, “You’re lazy, so you always get fast food for lunch.”
“No wonder you’re a piggy,” he quips.
When someone asks, “Are you serious?” he responds by reaching for Devin’s stomach, much to the disappointment of her family members.
“I’m just telling the truth,” he shrugs. “You always have fast food for lunch.”
In a confessional interview, Devin’s father expresses concern over Nick’s name calling and worries about how his criticisms could affect her self image.
“Him calling her piggy concerns me, even though Devin acts as if it doesn’t bother her,” he admits. “I don’t want her deep down inside [to] actually be bothered by that.”
Devin notes how her family members were uncomfortable with his jab and suggests he say “nice things” instead of commenting on her body. One family member says he could call her “beautiful” and he attempts to make amends by calling her “cute.”
“It’s too late,” Devin says while shrugging him off.
“The piggy nickname is something that has been a very long, ongoing battle that I’ve very much given up on,” she admits to the cameras.
